There continues to be a lot of discussion around the need and effectiveness of stubbing messages inside of your main GroupWise system.
There is a single overriding reason an organization would look at stubbing; to reduce the overall size of the message store which would allow faster backups and maintenance.
Unfortunately, stubbing often will do the exact opposite, increasing storage requirements while not reducing your message store.
I've created a short video to explain this.
This isn't to say that stubbing will work for some organizations. And the good news is that if you need stubbing, all the vendors in the GroupWise space who provide archiving solutions also support stubbing. If you are going to deploy stubbing, simply realize that if you are only doing it to reduce your overall message store, you may not get the what you are looking for.
